16-19 Tuition Fund

The 16-19 tuition fund is a government initiative to mitigate the disruption to learning that occurred as a result of COVID-19. The funding is being provided to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 year-old students in English, Maths, and other vocational courses where learning has been disrupted.

All students must be on a 16 to 19 study programme and the funding should be used to support the tuition activity above and beyond the programmes of education already planned. Priority for tuition at CAPA College will be given for students who:

• Have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or mathematics

• Have a grade 4 or above in English and mathematics, but have a special educational need or disability (SEND) or are from an economically disadvantaged background.

CAPA College will provide additional support to those students who meet the above criteria.

Additional support will include, but is not limited to:

  • Small groups of tuition in English language and mathematics for those students who do not have a grade 4 and above
  • Small groups of tuition in Dance, Drama, Production Arts and Media.
  • Small study skills tuition groups and 121 mentoring – focusing on literacy, organisation, P18 preparation.
  • Additional capacity in the appointment of a part-time Learning Support Teacher and Vocational Specialist Subject mentors.

All students given this additional support will work towards agreed targets with regular reviews to track, monitor, review and evidence all the work undertaken which has been supported by these additional funds and the impact this additional support has had on outcomes.
