CAPA College host their inaugural Virtual Open Day
CAPA College (Creative and Performing Arts College) is a specialist Arts college based in Wakefield. It is the city’s only full-time provision for students aged 16-19 who are looking to pursue a professional career in the performing and creative arts and attracts applicants from across Yorkshire and beyond.
At CAPA College students receive professional Arts training alongside rigorous academic study. Students are enrolled on four distinct pathways: Dance, Drama, Performing Arts and Productions Arts & Media. After two years of full-time study, they obtain the equivalent of four A levels as well as the skills and experience they need to progress to universities, vocational Arts conservatoires and Arts-based employment. This year’s results were the best yet with students achieving a 100% pass rate!
Throughout the national pandemic, CAPA College have successfully adapted in order to continue to excel and offer students a wide breadth of opportunities. This has included a highly successful remote learning timetable, impressive guest masterclasses, a multitude of live streamed performances and now their inaugural Virtual Open Day.
On the 6th December, the CAPA College Open Day was live streamed to over 150 prospective students and their families, allowing them to fully experience what the college has to offer. This jam-packed event was filled with key information, performances, alumni interviews and an interactive Q&A session LIVE from the CAPA College TV studio featuring staff and current students.
Thank you to the CAPA College alumni that joined the event from around the world! The alumni panel, including George Griffiths (Book of Mormon), Kaine Ruddach (Mamma Mia) and Polly Carter (Hong Kong Disneyland Resort), allowed prospective students to hear first-hand how the college gives students the skills and experience to go on to lead successful careers within the Arts.
The event received an abundance of positive feedback with parents heading to social media to compliment the “informative” and “inspiring” event.
